About the Photograph

Financial District skyline with moody sky before sunset. It is one of my favorite (and the most popular) spots in Brooklyn to shoot the impressive panorama of Downtown Manhattan. Landscape photographer's work is very spontaneous and full of surprises, both positive and negative. We are usually limited by the weather factors, especially if the intention is to capture the natural scene (without adding effects and faking the image). My initial idea regarding this photograph was completely different: I was going to shoot a classic sunset in color, with the sky filled with clouds. However, the scenery appeared to be way more dramatic. I chose to apply long exposure and convert the image to B&W, what seemed to be the best solution to capture the mood.

The photograph was awarded an Honorable Mention in 2019 Lucie's International Photography Awards.
