Usually, Venice canals are portrayed at daytime, as it probably portrays the character of this area more authentically. I, however, usually choose to create photography at dusk, whether it’s a cityscape or a landscape. The light you get at twilight transforms the spirit of every place, giving it a new form, which you also perceive very differently while watching live and when viewing the interpretation of a camera (not to mention the results of post-processing). The photograph looks very dramatic as for Venice, but this is how I saw it that evening. At blue hour I set the camera on a tripod on a bridge above the canal and directed it to the ocean. I set f/11 at ISO50 (in most cases I control these parameters in the first place) and adjusted exposure to 8s. This allowed me to maintain details in the shadows and highlights (the contrast was pretty high), keep every area of the image sharp and capture movement of the clouds, adding a little bit of dynamics to the image. Thanks to the wide angle I chose I managed to keep all the interesting details in the frame.
