Tribute in light used to be a phenomenon I had been very curious about prior to moving to New York. Piles of light going all the way to heaven have beenĀ illuminating the city's sky every year on September 11th and for a few days before the anniversary of the horrific events which took place in 2001. The installation is symbolic, artistic and beautiful. I've photographed it since 2015 from various perspectives. In 2019 I picked Manhattan Bridge and the nearby "beach". I chose a low perspective in order to capture the tiny stones and the East River in the foreground, Brooklyn Bridge in the middle and the beautifully illuminated Financial District in the background. In terms of the artisticĀ value of this photograph, what IĀ like in particular are: the mix of the warm and cold colors, and the lights reflecting on the blurred water and still stones lying in frontĀ of the lens. The scenery is undoubtedly beautiful onĀ itsĀ own, but the Tribute in Light makes it magical.
