The Story

I finally took advantage of an opportunity to photograph Brooklyn Bridge from Lower East Side. I kept on avoiding this place for a long time, despite it allured me on a regular basis. My modus operandi often consists in picturing certain more traditional capture of an object in my head, which I execute in the first place, and then seeking inspiration and more originality in the scene that I encounter. This photograph, obviously, is an example of the latter. I already packed the whole gear after having photographed Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge for about two hours, and headed back home. Walking along the fence, however, I spotted a puddle reflecting the illuminated bridge, right in front of a bench. I mounted the camera again on the tripod, but setting it sufficiently low was impossible this way. Therefore, I had to put it on the bench if I wanted to get a perfect angle, which would allow me to capture the full reflection. It took a while before I took the perfect shot I was looking for, but the result turned out exactly as I had imagined.

Location: Lower East Side (Manhattan), New York
