That night I was already done with photographing Downtown LA. I had spent the previous hour on a ramp above 101 Freeway, then went to my car and headed back to Venice. Having been eternally insatiable however, I was still looking around while driving, hoping to spot something worth capturing. I usually find around ten of such places, which extends every photoshoot for another hour or two. Or three... You never know it with me. Sometimes it takes half of a night and then, since it's already almost dawn, why wouldn't I stay for sunrise? Anyway, when I saw this place, I stopped the car, quickly grabbed the camera from the trunk and began shooting again, this time without tripod. It took me a while before I got exactly what I desired: a vertical photo of the skyline, illuminated clouds above the towers, and a lone car in empty streets with stop lights on. Taken from a hill.
